ANASTASIIA NEKYPILA
“Super book about ironic photography” is my first photo book. It was created in studio of graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under the direction of Aleksandra Toborowicz. I was inspired by the works of the irony master – the photographer Martin Parr.
I wanted to design my first photobook as experimental as possible and to try as many different techniques as I can to know how to use them properly. Therefore, the topic of irony in photography suited me very well. It gives a lot of freedom. I did not have any rules. I chose what I liked and my main task was to collect together ironic photographs of local artists, to analyze them and to convey the essence of irony through the design of the photobook as fine as possible. In this book there is no deep meaning, you do not need to make efforts to understand it. You can just relax and laugh.
I think that there is too much “deep” art in the world and people need a little more irony. If you look at my photobook and smile even for a minute then I think that I coped with my task.“
